Famous Landmark Stencil Critique

1. I changed my photo by using Photoshop. In photoshop I used the threshold. This changed the picture from color, to only black and white parts.
2. When creating my collage background I decided I just wanted to use a bunch of torn up pieces from an old book. My background didn't really relate to the picture in a certain way but I decided I wanted to spray paint the background, and I choose to do a purple middle, and blue outside outline.

3. Discuss the way positive and negative space was used to create your stencil.
I used positive and negative space in creating my stencil. I did this by only cutting out the parts that were black on the image, and leaving the white space.

4. When using the xacto knife you must be careful to not point the tip at your self or towards anoyone else. Always make sure that you screw the knife on all the way so it is not loose and does not fall out. You use the knife by pointing the blade down, and slowly cutting out whatever you need to. I did not find it very difficult to use an xacto knife.

5. I liked working with the spray paint, it helped to add contrast to the artwork, and my own unique touch. Putting my stencil in the middle made it become more of the center of attention and helped people to realize that it was the statue of liberty. I think overall my artwork had a good composition.
